Camp Christian Success!!
As many of you are aware, three of the young people from LCC traveled to Camp Christian this summer to take part in the week long Chi Rho Camp program with the Portahoga group. Mark Spring, Sarah Beveridge, and Adrienne Jones were in the beautiful Magnetic Springs, Ohio from July 6-12. These youth were part of the inaugural year of this camp as it is the combination of two areas. Until this year they would have been a part of the Cuyahoga Camp, which includes youth from Cleveland area and the Western Suburbs. This year they joined the youth from the Portage camp to form the new Portahoga.
As one might expect, by joining two camps, Portahoga was the largest camp of the summer and one of the largest in Camp Christian's recent history. The camp was a success not only in numbers, but in forming a relationship between these two areas. Campers even designed a new banner that will hang in the dining hall next to the remainder of the season and through the winter.
The curriculum for this year focused on God and the beauty of God's love, God's love as expressed in creation, Jesus Christ, the church, and even in our youth. The week also included the celebration of Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day, Pentecost, and Birthdays. daily themes were
entertaining and aided in reinforcing a growing relationship with God.
In addition to their quest groups and celebrations, there were also daily activities for the youth. Each evening, following prayers there was a recreational activity. There was a hoe down, cook out, skit night, and even an Olympics!
Three youth went this year and we hope to add more to the ranks in years to come!!

A Message for the
1st Edition
This is the first edition of what is meant to be a monthly newsletter dedicated to the youth of LCC. At the Portahoga Camp the director, Larry Pigg, told the youth
that even though they are the future of the church in leadership, they are the present of the church in participation.
The youth of our churches are the participants who set the stage for success of our churches. They may talk about video games, movies, and music you are not familiar with, but they are forming relationships with God and with each other that we can all relate to and support.
This page will feature information
pertinent to both youth and adults but will focus on the life of the youth in our church and how you can be involved in it.
I am excited to kick off this project and will accept suggestions for content and submissions from youth and adult members alike. Whether you are a young person or just feel like one, the
information in this newsletter is for you and do not hesitate to contact me about events or to submit information for the newsletter.
